Malcolm In The Middle Cast Reunites For 25th Anniversary Special...

The beloved early 2000s sitcom "Malcolm in the Middle" is trending today as its cast announced a reunion special celebrating the show's 25th anniversary. Frankie Muniz (Malcolm), Bryan Cranston (Hal), Jane Kaczmarek (Lois), and other core cast members will return for a one-hour retrospective airing May 15 on Hulu.

The news went viral after Muniz posted a behind-the-scenes photo on Instagram yesterday with the caption "The boys are back." Fans immediately recognized the iconic living room set from the Emmy-winning Fox series that ran from 2000-2006.

Hulu confirmed the special will include new interviews, never-before-seen bloopers, and a script table read of a classic episode. The streaming service reported a 300% spike in "Malcolm in the Middle" viewership within hours of the announcement.

Social media erupted with nostalgia, with the hashtag #Malcolm25 trending on Twitter. Many fans credit the show for pioneering the single-camera comedy format later used in hits like "The Office." The series remains culturally relevant for its portrayal of working-class family struggles.

Cranston, who went on to star in "Breaking Bad," told Variety: "Hal was one of my favorite roles. The reunion lets us honor how groundbreaking this show was." The special will also address the absence of Christopher Masterson (Francis), who declined to participate due to scheduling conflicts.

Entertainment analysts note the timing capitalizes on renewed interest in early 2000s pop culture. The reunion follows similar specials for "Friends" and "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air," which drew millions of viewers.

Hulu will release the special globally on May 15 at 8 PM ET/5 PM PT. The original series' complete seven seasons are currently available to stream on the platform.
