San Jose Earthquakes Strike Again, Leaving Trail Of Destruction
San Jose Earthquakes Strike Again, Leaving Trail Of Destruction...
A powerful 6.5-magnitude earthquake struck the San Jose area today, causing widespread damage and panic. The quake, which hit at 10:45 a.m. local time, was centered in the nearby Santa Cruz Mountains.
The US Geological Survey (USGS) reported that the earthquake was felt as far north as Sacramento and as far south as Los Angeles. The quake's epicenter was located approximately 20 miles northwest of San Jose.
Eyewitnesses described the shaking as intense, with many reporting that they were forced to duck and cover to avoid falling objects and debris. 'It was like a rollercoaster ride,' said San Jose resident Maria Rodriguez. 'I was at home when it hit, and I thought the house was going to collapse.'
The San Jose Fire Department and other emergency responders have been working to clear debris and respond to reports of injuries. As of 2:30 p.m. local time, officials have confirmed at least 12 injuries, with several more reported missing.
The quake has also caused significant disruptions to daily life, with many businesses and schools forced to close temporarily. The San Jose/Silicon Valley Airport has also reported delays and cancellations due to the earthquake.
The cause of the earthquake is still unclear, but seismologists believe it may be related to the San Andreas Fault, which runs through the region.
As the region begins to recover from the devastating quake, residents are left to wonder what the future holds. Will this be the start of a larger seismic shift in the region? Only time will tell.
