Knicks Defeat Hornets In Overtime Thriller, Boost Playoff Hopes...

The New York Knicks edged out the Charlotte Hornets 112-110 in a thrilling overtime victory at Madison Square Garden on Monday night. The win strengthens the Knicks' playoff positioning in the Eastern Conference, while the Hornets' postseason hopes took another hit.

Jalen Brunson led the Knicks with 32 points and 9 assists, including a clutch jumper in the final minute of overtime. Miles Bridges paced the Hornets with 28 points and 12 rebounds in the losing effort. The game featured 18 lead changes and neither team led by more than 8 points.

This matchup is trending today as both teams fight for playoff positioning with just two weeks remaining in the regular season. The Knicks (44-32) now sit comfortably in the 5th seed, while the Hornets (38-38) remain in the play-in tournament mix at 9th in the East.

Fans packed MSG for the nationally televised ESPN game, creating playoff-like atmosphere in mid-April. The victory marks New York's fourth straight win, their longest streak since January. Charlotte has now dropped three of their last four.

Coach Tom Thibodeau praised his team's resilience: "These are the kinds of games that prepare you for the playoffs. Charlotte played extremely hard, but our guys made plays when we needed them."

The Knicks host Boston on Wednesday while the Hornets travel to Miami on Tuesday. Both games carry significant playoff implications as the regular season winds down.
