Ford Issues Recall Over Faulty Windshield Wipers Affecting 1.2 Million Vehicles...

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) announced today that Ford is recalling approximately 1.2 million vehicles in the United States due to defective windshield wipers. The recall affects multiple models, including the 2021-2023 Ford F-150, Explorer, and Mustang Mach-E, which may experience wiper motor failure.

The issue stems from a manufacturing defect that can cause the wiper motor to lose electrical contact, rendering the wipers inoperable. This poses a significant safety risk, especially during adverse weather conditions like rain or snow, where visibility is critical.

Ford has confirmed that it is aware of 16,000 warranty claims related to the issue but has not yet reported any accidents or injuries. The company will notify affected vehicle owners starting April 21, 2026, and dealers will replace the faulty wiper motor free of charge.

The recall is currently trending due to its widespread impact and the potential safety hazards it presents. Social media platforms and news outlets have amplified concerns, with many drivers expressing frustration over the inconvenience and potential dangers.

This marks Ford’s second major recall this year, following a separate issue involving brake system malfunctions in February. The automaker has faced increased scrutiny from regulators and consumers alike, raising questions about its quality control processes.

Owners of affected vehicles are urged to check the NHTSA website or Ford’s recall portal using their Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) to confirm if their car is part of the recall. In the meantime, drivers are advised to avoid operating their vehicles in inclement weather until repairs are completed.

The NHTSA has emphasized the importance of addressing this issue promptly, stating that “functional windshield wipers are essential for safe driving.” Ford has pledged to work swiftly to resolve the problem and minimize disruption for its customers.
