Florida Woman Missing In Bahamas After Disappearing From Resort...

A 32-year-old Florida woman has been reported missing in the Bahamas after failing to return from a solo vacation at a popular resort. The disappearance of Taylor Casey, a Miami-based yoga instructor, has sparked a widespread search and growing concern among US travelers to the island nation.

Casey was last seen on April 5, 2026, at the Sandals Emerald Bay resort on Great Exuma, where she had been staying alone. Resort staff alerted authorities after she missed her scheduled checkout and failed to respond to calls. Her passport and personal belongings were left in her room.

The Bahamas Royal Police Force has launched an investigation with assistance from the FBI, as Casey is a US citizen. Local authorities are reviewing surveillance footage and conducting shoreline searches near the resort, which sits along a stretch of beach known for strong currents.

The case is trending in the US due to heightened traveler safety concerns following several high-profile disappearances in the Bahamas over the past two years. The US State Department issued a Level 2 travel advisory for the Bahamas in January 2026, citing violent crime in tourist and non-tourist areas.

Casey's family has flown to the Bahamas to assist in the search. Her mother, Dawn Rogers, told reporters: "This is completely out of character. Taylor is responsible and always checks in." A GoFundMe campaign has raised over $75,000 for search efforts as of Thursday morning.

Sandals Resorts International released a statement confirming their cooperation with authorities but declined to comment on specific security measures. The company operates 16 all-inclusive properties across the Caribbean, including three in the Bahamas.

The disappearance comes during peak spring break travel season, when thousands of Americans visit the Bahamas. Nassau's US Embassy reported handling 11 missing persons cases involving American tourists in 2025, though most were resolved within 72 hours.

Anyone with information is urged to contact the Bahamas Missing Persons Unit at +1-242-502-9991 or the FBI Miami Field Office at (754) 703-2000.
