Chicago Med Cast Shake-Up: Key Exits And New Additions For Season 12...

NBC's Chicago Med is undergoing major cast changes ahead of its 12th season, sparking widespread discussion among fans. The medical drama, part of Dick Wolf's One Chicago franchise, confirmed this week that two longtime cast members are departing while three new actors are joining the series.

Brian Tee, who has played Dr. Ethan Choi since the show's 2015 debut, announced his exit after nearly a decade. Fellow original cast member Marlyne Barrett (Nurse Maggie Lockwood) will also leave. Their final episodes will air in May 2026 during the current season's finale arc.

The news comes as Chicago Med remains one of NBC's top-rated scripted shows, averaging 7.2 million viewers per episode this season. Fans took to social media to express shock about the departures, with #SaveDrChoi trending on Twitter for several hours Wednesday.

New cast members include Emmy-nominated actor Jesse Williams (Grey's Anatomy) as a trauma surgeon, along with The Resident alumna Jessica Miesel and Broadway star Jordan Donica. NBC confirmed all three will appear in the Season 12 premiere this fall.

Showrunner Andrew Schneider told Variety the changes reflect natural story evolutions. "We're grateful to Brian and Marlyne for their incredible contributions," he said. "These new dynamics will bring fresh energy while maintaining the show's heart."

Chicago Med films on location in Chicago, where it employs over 200 local crew members. The series has boosted tourism to the city's medical district, with fans regularly visiting filming locations like the former Cook County Hospital.

The cast shake-up coincides with NBC's recent five-season renewal for the One Chicago franchise. Chicago Med airs Wednesdays at 8/7c, with Season 11 concluding May 21, 2026.
